COMET HALE BOPP

March 11, 1997 photo on Kodacolor 400 by Mike Wallace using a 50mm lens on a Nikon body. The blue tail (10 o'clock) consists predominantly of ionized molecules of various types. The blue color is produced by ionized CO. The tail at 11 o'clock consists of dust. The light is simply scattered sunlight.
